New Years Resolutions

As Syenna mentioned, 2011 was a year of many changes for us.  I feel as if it has been a year when we have been able to find the confidence and energy (somehow) to listen to our own instincts a little more.  I think that all of these changes will have a positive effect on our boys and I hope that we can continue the good work through 2012.

I'll make a start by making a few promises to myself, in the form of resolutions.  Here goes:

1. Be nicer to Syenna.  That's really vague isn't it?  Let me explain: I am very critical.  I criticise people's work (including my own) for a job.  But I forget that criticism isn't always helpful, and do way too much of it at home.  I also concentrate too much on doing things, rather than doing them nicely, even when I am doing them to try and be nice.  So this year, I will make a concious effort to think a little more about the way I make people feel, especially Syenna.
Sugar!
2.  Eat less sugar.  At work, we receive numerous gifts of a chocolatey or biscuity nature and, as a result, I have slowly been increasing my daily sugar intake over the past 3 years.  I'm sure this can't be good for my metabolism/teeth/health/moral conscience.  Over the past month, I have pretty much avoided all sucrose at work and have been eating less at home too.  Diet is one of the things that I know so little about but would really love to know more, but I don't have confidence in anything I read.  The information seems to be sourced from people either trying to sell a fad-diet or promote some ill-informed government scheme.  In any case, I am convinced that highly processed sugars are not good on a number of levels.

I think that's enough for now, I wouldn't want to make life too hard for myself!
